Project Description

Roses are classical and sensuous and with regular dead-heading look gorgeous for much of the year. With this in mind, we created a fragrant rose garden and contemplative space in a public space in Edinburgh city centre. The climbing roses are trained up a powder coated steel gazebo, which adds impact from a distance. We carefully selected roses that would cope with the light shade cast by the surrounding trees.

The planting scheme uses a harmonious palate of healthy and beautiful English shrub roses that grow well in these conditions. The roses selected all have an exquisite perfume and flower for around 6 months of the year.

A low box hedge encloses the rose borders and also adds structure to the garden through the winter months. Hard wearing paving is able to withstand the high volume of pedestrians visiting this area.
