Project Description

Design for a rural garden with wildlife pond
This sloping garden had stunning views out over the hills. However, it was hard to make use of the tricky uneven ground. The garden was accessed via a set of hazardous narrow wobbly stone steps. This made for an uninviting space for the clients to access or their children to play.
We have now created more level spaces to be enjoyed throughout the day. The original stone steps were repurposed to create a more practical access to the garden. This meant we retained all their original charm and character.

The family were keen to attract wildlife into the garden. We have planted long flowering nectar rich borders to attract pollinators. It did not take the frogs long to inhabit the new wildlife pond. Wildlife hedging will also provide plenty of extra habitat for nesting birds.

An additional set of corten steel steps down through the sloping garden make for far better circulation around the area. There is now plenty of space to dine, grow, play, dip and enjoy a morning coffee. This means the family now spend most of their spare time outside.
