First impressions are so important so it is really worth investing in an enticing front garden. The busy professional clients in Portobello wanted a front garden design that would look good throughout the year. The garden also needed to be easy to maintain.
We removed the two small mossy lawns as they were not worth dragging the lawn mower through the house for. We also took down the taller trees. These were casting shade over the front of the house and blocking lovely views across the park.
We constructed a garden path using recycled flagstones that the clients had salvaged while they were renovating the kitchen. A network of gravel paths intersected borders planted with a low maintenance planting scheme. These long flowering perennials and shrubs will look good all year round. Small cherry trees and a hydrangea hedge hide the cars and passers by and fragrant evergreen shrubs hide the bins.
